Emergency Services

 

Emergency Assistance and Crisis Intervention

Mortgage or rental assistance to prevent eviction.  Relocation support, utility and fuel voucher payments, food pantry, local referrals and coordination of service.

Hand-Up Lodge

Short-term housing for homeless men, women and children; assistance in securing employment and permanent housing; crisis counseling.

Family Living Center

Opened in December, 2002.  Transitional housing for families, supportive services.

Virginia Cares

Post-release services such as food, clothing, housing, employment and transportation, for those who have been incarcerated or have criminal charges, to prevent further criminal activity and to help them to once again become productive citizens in the communities where they work and live. Assistance is provided with obtaining ID's, completing Social Services and Social Security forms and with any other needs they may have.

Emergency Transportation Services

Keeps TANF-eligible clients employed through a transportation crisis by providing car repairs, bus tickets and taxi service on a short-term basis.   Basic car maintenance education, budgeting, financial and employment counseling, referral.

HOPWA

Serving individuals with HIV/AIDS and their families.  Confidential housing counseling; emergency rental, mortgage and utility payments; transportation; food pantry; support groups; education and referral.

SHIP

Prevention of housing displacement through rental, mortgage and security deposit assistance.  Secures permanent housing.
