Program Components:

Community Housing Development Housing Organization (CHDO)

Provides substantial rehabilitation to unoccupied homes and then sells them to first-time homebuyers within the city of Lynchburg.

 

NOTE: The agency also operates a Homebuyers Club for first-time home buyers that offers workshops on all aspects of preparation for home purchasing.

Home Improvement Program

This program provides home improvements for low-income homeowners who reside in the city of Lynchburg. Funding for these projects are provided by the City of Lynchburg (Community Development Block Grant), United Way of Central Virginia and the State Community Services Block Grant.

 

Indoor Plumbing/Rehabilitation

The IPR program provides indoor plumbing and substantial rehabilitation to home of low-income homeowners who are without indoor plumbing or are in need of upgrading. The program serves homeowners who reside in Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford or Campbell counties.

 

Water/Waste Water

Lyn-CAG serves as the information intake and referral agency for the Central Virginia area for this program. Upon completion of the paperwork and verification of eligibility, the actual work for this program is conducted by The Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project. Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

The Weatherization Program provides energy conservation measures, HVAC replacement and repairs and health and safety measures to low-income homeowners in Campbell County and the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg.
